Potential readers should know that this book focuses almost exclusively on nonfiction writers. As a fiction writer, I was hard pressed to find material that applied to me. There is some advice for fiction writers, but you have to search for it. I was disappointed.

I am re-reading this book, amazed at how much practical and detailed information Katz has included about how to build a successful writing platform. Author platforms are an essential element of publishing right now, though few people know how to begin. Nor have there been adequate resources, until now. This is THE platform book. It should be required in MFA and PhD programs; every author, experienced and novice, should read it.
