The Constant Art of Being a Writer is divided into three sections - The Life, the Work, and the Business - and covers all the crucial aspects of writing and publishing. In addition to addressing such core elements as idea generation, and plot and character development, you will also explore more nuanced topics like language, mood and tone black comedic moments, magic realism and more. In the business portion, learn how to do one's own public relations, using digital media, building a promotional website, finding a supportive writing community (live and/or online). In addition, the section includes information about what to expect after the book is sold, including a basic timeline that traces a work from manuscript to shelf. Some of the chapters feature short interviews with other writers, such as a discussion on language with successful short story writer Aimee Bender, thus exposing readers to additional view points and approaches.
